Elton Brand apparently still has something left in the tank.

The No. 1 pick of the 1999 NBA Draft, who will turn 37 next week, showed off a smooth shooting touch in his debut with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

Brand went 2 for 4 shooting for six points in eight minutes in the first half against the Heat. The two-time All-Star came out of retirement in January to play for Philadelphia after getting four starts in 36 games for the Hawks last season.

Another member of the 1999 draft class made a debut of his own on Friday night. Baron Davis, also a two-time NBA All-Star, made his debut with the Delaware 87ers of the NBA D-League. The former No. 3 pick showed that, at age 39, he’s still got a little bit of the athleticism that he showed in the 1997 McDonald’s All-American Slam Dunk contest.

One has to wonder if Steve Francis, the second overall pick of the 1999 draft, is contemplating his own comeback.
