Donald, Shelly Sterling decide to remain together image

Former Clippers owner Donald Sterling has reconciled with his wife, Shelly, and the two have opted not to divorce.

“Notwithstanding all the difficult events of the last two years, the Sterlings have resolved their differences,” Donald Sterling’s attorney, Bobby Samini, wrote Friday in an email to the Los Angeles Times . Shelly Sterling’s attorney, Pierce O’Donnell, confirmed the couple’s decision to the Times.

Donald Sterling filed for divorce last August, three weeks before the couple's 60th wedding anniversary, citing "irreconcilable differences" after accusing Shelly of conspiring with the NBA to strip him of ownership of the Clippers and selling the team without his consent. A racially offensive rant recorded by then-mistress V. Stiviano led to Sterling being forced to sell the team. The purchase of the franchise by Steve Ballmer was finalized Aug. 14, 2014.

Shelly Sterling is still listed as a defendant in her husband’s federal lawsuit over the $2 billion sale of the team, according to the Times. Donald Sterling is reportedly still waiting to receive his portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Clippers. Half the money is being held in an NBA-controlled escrow account pending the lawsuit’s resolution.

Donald Sterling called his wife a "pig" in 2014 after she removed him from the family trust that owned the Clippers. forced out her husband after a pair of doctors declared him to be mentally incapacitated following his tirade about African-Americans.

In 2015, Shelly Sterling won a lawsuit against Stiviano, who was ordered to return $2.6 million in gifts from Donald Sterling.
