Derrick Rose shares brutal COVID-19 experience: 'It was nothing like the flu' image

Derrick Rose is back with the Knicks after a bout with COVID-19.

Rose, who has been out since Feb. 28, rejoined New York on Monday after missing the previous eight games while battling the coronavirus, and he shared his experience with the illness, saying it's the flu "times 10."

"They say everybody is different, but with me I never felt anything like that before," Rose said via The Associated Press. "I’ve had the flu. It was nothing like the flu. It was that times 10. So like I said, I'm slowly getting back. I'm progressing every day and just trying to get back in the swing of things."

Rose told media on Monday that his children also contracted COVID-19, and they had all quarantined together.

The NBA has dealt with a swath of coronavirus cases in the 2020-21 season, with protocols tightened in January. In total, 31 NBA games have been postponed, with just a few made up so far.

While Rose is back with the team, he has to work on his conditioning before returning to the floor.

The Knicks acquired Rose for Dennis Smith Jr. and a second-round pick earlier in the season. It's Rose's second stint with the team.
