David Stern on David Letterman: NBA czar's star turn image

David Stern, NBA commissioner and erstwhile standup comedian, gets a star turn on David Letterman's nightly talk show. How did the commish do? Check this out.

As far as top bananas go, let's just say Stern gets more laughs than Gary Bettman.

Stern, who is set to retire from his position on Feb. 1, can bask in attention at times. Example: NBA Draft days, where he welcomes boos from the crowd with snide smile.

Wednesday wasn't Stern's first turn on Letterman. This showing came after the lockout of the 1998-99 season, and he had jokes addressing that as well. One of the best: "We all just lost a lot of money, so please tip your point guard."
