If Kevin McHale wants another job in the NBA, one of his old teammates said his first team would welcome him.
Celtics president Danny Ainge said Wednesday that he reached out to McHale, who was fired by the Rockets, about a possible role with the team.

"I told Kevin that (Wednesday)," Ainge told the Boston Herald. "We've got a spot for him. I know we could figure something out for him in some capacity, but I think he's just in a wait-and-see mode.”
McHale was fired by Houston following a 4-7 start to the season. The Hall of Fame big man spent his entire career with the Celtics and helped them win three NBA titles. He and Ainge were teammates from 1981-89.
The two worked on the 2007 trade that sent Kevin Garnett to Boston while McHale was the Timberwolves' vice president of basketball operations.
Despite his offer, Ainge doesn’t think his ex-teammate is ready to get back in the game.
"He appreciated me reaching out to him, but I think he's just going to lay low,” Ainge said. “He's probably got bigger and better things to do — or more relaxing things to do.”
