Los Angeles hoops fans may not have a proverbial horse in the race ahead of the 2024 NBA Finals, but they do have plenty of entertainment coming in the form of dramatic television. The new FX docu-drama series "Clipped" starts this week, with Episode 1 dropping on Hulu.

The six-part story about former Clippers owner Donald Sterling — now serving a lifetime ban from the NBA — portrays the extreme levels of dysfunction that mired Sterling, his family and the Clippers franchise in the early 2010s.

Sterling's ultimate expulsion from the Association came after the release of taped recordings of the billionaire making racist statements. After being kicked out, Sterling's wife sold the Clippers to current owner Steve Balmer and Sterling sued the league.

Based on the ESPN 30 for 30 special "The Sterling Affairs," the show will cover that transgression and Sterling's sordid affairs with a mistress and rocky relationships with former L.A. coach Doc Rivers and ex-Clippers players like Chris Paul.

Ed O'Neill, known for his role as Al Bundy on "Married with Children," plays Sterling. "The Matrix" star Laurence Fishburne portrays Rivers, while J. Alphone Nicholson stars as Paul. Cleopatra Coleman plays V. Stiviano, Sterling's ex-mistress, and Jacki Weaver plays his wife Shelly.
