Chandler Parsons could be on the wrong end of a tampering charge.

While talking about the fate of friend and former teammate Dwight Howard, Parsons expressed his hope that the center would leave the Rockets once his contract is up and join the Mavericks.

"I think he can still dominate the game. I think he can still be a great player in this league. And I think he's going to leave Houston, so why not come here?" Parsons said, via ESPN

According to NBA rules, a player or team who "directly or indirectly entices, induces or persuades anybody (player, general manager, etc.) who is under contract with another team in order to negotiate for their services" is guilty of tampering.

Parsons' comment could easily come across as tampering, whether he meant it to or not. (He probably did.)

However, Parsons could have his wish come true. Howard is expected this summer to opt out of his contract with the Rockets and become a free agent. Howard's lack of chemistry with James Harden and Howard's average season have been driving forces for the big man's reportedly wanting out of Houston.

On the other hand, Parsons, who also will become a free agent, indicated his love for Dallas and that he will likely stay with the Mavericks.

Even at 30, Howard is still a powerful center, something the Mavericks need. He shot 62 percent and averaged 11.8 rebounds while scoring 13.7 points per game.
