Friday night brings a potential NBA Finals preview as Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets head to Boston to take on Jayson Tatum and the Celtics.

The Celtics sit alone atop the Eastern Conference. Tatum and fellow wing Jaylen Brown drive the brunt of Boston’s success, each averaging over 23 points per game.

But the Celtics would not be where they are without their complementary pieces. Derrick White has emerged as the quintessential glue-guy in his eighth season in the NBA; meanwhile, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis have excelled in their first season with the franchise, despite diminished scoring outputs.

The Nuggets are once again near the top of the Western Conference, neck-and-neck with a pair of upstarts in Minnesota and Oklahoma City.

Denver opened up its five-game East Coast swing with a 126-121 loss to the 76ers on Tuesday. Jokic poured in 25 points and 19 rebounds, but was out-dueled by Joel Embiid, as the reigning MVP dropped 41 points.

Nonetheless, Jokic, a two-time MVP himself, is in the midst of another fantastic season. He is averaging 25.5 points, 11.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, filling the stat sheet on a nightly basis.

This will be the first of two matchups between the sides this season, with the two teams set to meet again in Denver on March 7.
