After a dominant showing in Boston on Sunday, the Cavs look to keep building momentum before the All-Star break with a win in Oklahoma City.
Cleveland (33-22) wants to avenge an ugly 148-124 home loss to the Thunder on Jan. 20. On Tuesday, it will be a very different Cavs team visiting Chesapeake Energy Arena than the team that lost in late January. At the Feb. 8 trade deadline, Cleveland dealt six of its players to acquire Jordan Clarkson, George Hill, Rodney Hood and Larry Nance Jr. in return.
In the Cavs’ 121-99 rout over the Celtics, Cleveland's four newest members combined for 49 points, led by 17 from Clarkson. The win in Boston was Cleveland’s third straight; during the streak, LeBron James has averaged 27.7 points, 14.7 assists and 10 rebounds per game.
DEVENEY: New Cavs have big chips on shoulders
The Thunder (32-25) enter Tuesday’s matchup in search of a sense of direction. After an eight- game winning streak, Oklahoma City has lost five of its last seven. Most recently, the Thunder handily defeated the Grizzlies without Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook. The OKC duo sat with ankle injuries.
In Sunday’s win over Memphis, All-Star forward Paul George led OKC with 38 points, eight assists and three steals. Raymond Felton filled in for Westbrook nicely, adding 14 points and eight assists of his own. The statuses of Anthony and Westbrook for Tuesday's game remain uncertain, though, and that could be key in this matchup.
Will the Thunder make it a season sweep, or can the new-look Cavs continue to roll?
