Social media is a great way to connect with others, especially when it comes to sports. Too often, though, it’s also a place where people can be extremely rude — to put it lightly — without any real-life consequence of significance.
One Cavaliers fan thought he could do that, and it just cost him his job.
The Twitter user, under the since-deleted handle @SoftCaramelKiss, went on a profanity-laced rant Wednesday directed at Stephen Curry’s sister, Sydel, and made a homophobic remark about Riley Curry, the 3-year-old daughter of the Warriors star.

Luckily, the internet is also a place where nothing dies. The tweet was reported to the author's employer, Holton Wise, a Cleveland real estate company, which later revealed the man had been dismissed.

The company's president also responded with an open letter apologizing to the Curry family.
