McKinnie appeared in 73 games for Golden State last year but was waived last week to make way for Marquese Chriss on the team's 15-man roster.
Chriss last spent time with Cleveland, so it appears like he and McKinnie are in effect trading places.
Where McKinnie fits in with the Cavaliers remains to be seen though, as they already have an abundance of wings in Kevin Porter Jr., Cedi Osman, and Dylan Windler.
However, McKinnie has benefited from playing meaningful minutes for a contender.
McKinnie averaged 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Warriors while logging 13.9 minutes per game.
