Most basketball fans will look forward to being off on Christmas to watch a full slate of NBA games. Carmelo Anthony isn't one of them.

The Knicks star said his team should always play on the holiday.

“I ain’t watching nothing,’’ Anthony told reporters on Wednesday, via the New York Post. “We should’ve been on Christmas. Christmas in New York. That’s what it should’ve been.’

The Knicks have been a holiday staple for decades and haven't sat out Christmas since 2008.

“Of course we want to play on Christmas,’’ Anthony said. “I love that. That’s showtime, especially in New York. But we’ll get our shot at it. They’ll come back to us."

Anthony isn't the only one who will miss playing on Christmas. Knicks coach Derek Fisher admitted there is something special about playing on the NBA's big day.

“People care about this game. Christmas Day and [the games] are one of the most important things going on in a lot of people’s houses," Fisher said. "That’s pretty cool. Last year’s Christmas showing [a loss to the Wizards] wasn’t all that great. Maybe it’s better for us.’’
