The new-look Bucks are near the top of the Eastern Conference and travel to the Suns on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
The Bucks hired Doc Rivers as the coach on Jan. 26 after firing Adrian Griffin after only 43 games. Rivers played collegiately for Marquette, which shares a home arena with the Bucks.
Rivers was also named the Eastern Conference's coach in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 18 in Indianapolis.
The immediate goal for Rivers is to improve the Bucks defensively where they ranked 19th in NBA.
Milwaukee is coming off a123-08 loss to the Jazz on Sunday. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the Bucks' most consistent scorer and he led the team with 33 points, 13 assists, and seven rebounds. Antetokounmpo has been playing through a knee injury that has yet to keep him out of any games.
Bobby Portis added 27 points and Malik Beasley had 16. Damian Lillard added 12 points, six assists, and a season-high two blocks.
Milwaukee played without starters Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton.
The Bucks trail the first-place Celtics by five games.
The Suns are also in the heat of the playoff race in the Western Conference.
Guard Devin Booker was selected by NBA head coaches as a reserve in the All-Star game. Booker became just the eighth player in Suns history to earn at least four All-Star selections with the team, joining Steve Nash (6), Walter Davis (6), Amar’e Stoudemire (5), Shawn Marion (4) Charles Barkley (4), Paul Westphal (4) and Connie Hawkins (4).
Booker joins Suns forward Kevin Durant, who was announced as a starter, to give the Suns multiple All-Star selections for the 25th time in franchise history.
Phoenix is coming off a 140-112 rout of the Wizards on Sunday. Bradley Beal scored a season-high 43 points in his return to Washington where he played 11 season before being traded to Phoenix last offseason. He received a video tribute and standing ovation during player introductions.
Durant and Jusuf Nurkic scored 18 points apiece for Phoenix, which went 4-3 on a seven-game trip.
