Bucks vs. Hawks injury updates: Will Giannis Antetokounmpo, Trae Young play in Game 5? image

To borrow a WWE term, the 2021 Eastern Conference finals have turned into a Last Man Standing match.

The Bucks and Hawks are dealing with potentially series-changing injuries to their top players. Trae Young missed the entirety of Game 4, as he was recovering from a bone bruise in his right foot. Then Giannis Antetokounmpo went down with a scary left knee injury after attempting to block a Clint Capela dunk in the second half of that contest.

Both stars haven't been ruled out of the NBA playoffs, so when will they return to the court?

Here are the latest updates on Antetokounmpo and Young ahead of Thursday's Game 5.

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo play vs. Hawks?

Antetokounmpo is listed as out on the official Game 5 injury report. The Bucks announced during Game 4 that he had suffered a hyperextension of his left knee, and an MRI later confirmed the initial diagnosis.

During his Wednesday media availability, Milwaukee coach Mike Budenholzer said the team is going to take it "day by day" with Antetokounmpo's injury and not jeopardize his long-term health.

Through 15 postseason games, Antetokounmpo is averaging 28.2 points, 12.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 55.1 percent from the field.

Will Trae Young play vs. Bucks?

UPDATE: Young is out for Game 5, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews.

ORIGINAL: Young is listed as questionable for Game 5. Hawks coach Nate McMillan told reporters that he is going to be a "game-time decision."

Veteran guard Lou Williams replaced Young in Atlanta's starting lineup for Game 4, totaling 21 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 35 minutes. If Young is ruled out for Game 5, Williams will once again be expected to play a key role in the Hawks' offense.

Through 15 postseason games, Young is averaging 29.8 points and 9.5 assists.
