The NBA 2K24 Las Vegas Summer League begins on Friday night, and fans are excited to watch the next generation of NBA stars. One game that will be on everybody's radar is the Summer League debut of French phenom Victor Wembanyama when the Spurs will take on No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller and the Hornets.
Wembanyama did not play in the California Classic earlier this week but will look to put on a show in front of the basketball world in Las Vegas. Bettors can also get involved in the action by wagering on tonight's contest and Wembanyama's player props at various sportsbooks.
Below, we'll look at a couple of best bets bettors can take advantage of for tonight's highly anticipated matchup between the Spurs and Hornets.
Best player prop bets for Victor Wembanyama's Summer League debut
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook
Victor Wembanyama to score 20+ points (+130). If you are looking for a points prop to throw a few dollars on tonight, the best bet is to take Wemby to score 20 in his Summer League debut. The French phenom will likely get a lot of minutes and scoring opportunities as the Spurs feature him in this matchup.
Wembanyama is coming off an impressive 2022-23 season with Mets92, averaging 21.6 points per game on 47 percent shooting from the field. The last time we saw Wemby play in the States, he put on a show in two exhibition games against Scoot Henderson and NBA G League Ignite.
The 19-year-old big man scored 37 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from three-point range in the first exhibition game. He followed that up with 36 points (11-24 FG, 2-7 3pt) and 11 rebounds in the second game against the Ignite.
Should bettors wager on Wembanyama to score 30 or more points for +1000? Probably not, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him score 20 and maybe get 25 points (+425) in an electrifying atmosphere.
Victor Wembanyana to score 25+ points AND record four blocks (+600). With his size and ability to block shots at a high rate, bettors should probably consider sprinkling a few dollars on this parlay.
Granted, it's the summer league, and no one knows what will happen in this game. However, we know Wembanyama will make his presence felt in the middle, as he's 7-foot-4 with an eight-foot wingspan. Wembanyama recorded three blocks per game this past season and had 15 games with at least four blocks. At +600 odds, there's only an implied probability of 14.3 percent for this prop to hit, but, again, it's the summer league, so we are just looking to have fun and find value.
Victor Wembanyama to record a field goal before Brandon Miller (-170). In addition to player props, DK also gave out an H2H matchup prop between Wembanyama and Miller to score the first field goal. If Wemby wins the opening tip tonight, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Spurs run the first play for him and try to get his first points out of the way. The implied probability of this H2H prop hitting is 62.9 percent, so we will take our chances to add to our winnings.
