Australia vs. Serbia final score, results: Nikola Jokic delivers monster performance in Olympics quarterfinal image

Serbia is into the semifinals of the Olympic Games after a nail-biting 95-90 overtime win over Australia.

After trailing by as many as 24 points, Serbia rallied in the second half and looked as though it had won it in regulation, before Patty Mills' heroics sent the game into overtime, draining a clutch jumper over Nikola Jokic. 

But that's when Jokic took over, carrying Serbia down the stretch with a string of big plays on both ends, finishing with 21 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and four steals. 

Mills led Australia with 26 points, while Josh Giddey added 25 points, five rebounds and four assists, but turned the ball over seven times. 

Serbia will now face the winner of USA vs. Brazil in the semifinals.

FINAL: Serbia 95, Australia 90

That's game for Serbia. A monstrous performance from Nikola Jokic with 21 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and four rebounds puts his country into the semifinals. 

12:38 a.m. — JOKIC IS TAKING OVER!! 

Two straight buckets from the three-time MVP has Serbia in front 93-90.

12:37 a.m. — Back-to-back huge defensive plays from Jokic. First, he gets the block on Giddey, before swiping Mills' shot off the rim.  He's keeping Serbia in the game. 

12:35 a.m. — Momentum is with Australia after Giddey steps into a 3-pointer and an offensive foul is called on Serbia at the other end. Boomers lead 90-87.

12:34 a.m. — The Boomers are back in front after a triple from McVeigh and some nice post work from Reath. 

12:32 a.m. — Dobric opens the scoring in overtime with the triple. Serbia lead 85-82. 

Fourth quarter: Australia 82, Serbia 82

12:29 a.m. — PATTY MILLS!!!!! He drills the clutch jumper over Jokic to send it to overtime!!!!!!

12:20 a.m. — Great defensive possession from Dellavedova, but Landale picks up his fifth foul and is out of the game. He sends Micic to the free throw line who goes 1-2 and Serbia leads by two. 

12:18 a.m. — JOSH GIDDEY!

The Aussie guard drains the Dirk Nowitzki one-legged fadeaway to cut the lead to 81-80.

12:16 a.m. — Great ball movement from Australia as it gets it around the perimeter to Josh Giddey in the corner to tie things up at 78-78 with 3 minutes to play.

We've got a blockbuster finish coming up here!! 

12:14 a.m. — That's a double-double for Nikola Jokic. He's up to 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. 

12:11 a.m. — It feels like Jack McVeigh has hit a timely 3-pointer in every fourth quarter for the Boomers. He steps into it with confidence to cut the lead to 76-75.

12:10 a.m. — That's four fouls for Serbia this quarter. It'll have to be careful or it'll be sending the Aussies to the free throw line very early. 

12:06 a.m. — That's a back-breaking triple from Vasilije Micic as Serbia hits back to make it a four-point game, 76-72. 

End of third quarter: Serbia 25, Australia 11

11:58 p.m. — Again, another empty possession for Australia as Giddey is called for the offensive foul. The Boomers can't wait for the quarter buzzer to go. 

11:57 p.m. — Nikola Jokic makes Australia pay at the free throw line, making both to put Serbia back in front, 67-65.

11:56 p.m. — The turnovers are really starting to hurt Australia as Reath and Daniels cough it up on back-to-back possessions. 

11:52 p.m. — The boos are reigning down for Avramovic after he bodychecks Exum into the stands. He heads to the bench. 

Could this be a momentum changer for Australia?

11:49 p.m. — BIG SHOT BOGDANOVIC!

The Atlanta Hawks sharpshooter gets the tough baseline jumper to go, giving Serbia its first lead since early in the first quarter. Serbia leads 61-60.

11:47 p.m. — The nerves are creeping in for Australia. The offense continues to break down as Avramovic draws the offensive foul on Exum. It's a 17-6 run from Serbia to start the third quarter. Boomers lead 60-59.

11:43 p.m. — Another offensive rebound for Serbia. It's leading Australia on that front 11-5, creating plenty of second-chance opportunities. Bogdanovic gets his third triple of the night to go down and all of a sudden Serbia is back to within four points.  

11:37 p.m. — After trailing by as many as 24 points, Serbia has closed the gap to seven points thanks to a triple from Dobric. Australia lead 58-51.

Halftime: Australia 54, Serbia 42

11:16 p.m. — A scorching first half for the Boomers sees them take a 12-point lead into the break. They shot 62.2 percent from the field (23-of-37) and 45.5 percent from 3 (5-of-11) led by 20 points from Patty Mills and 13 points from Josh Giddey.

Nikola Jokic leads Serbia with 11 — the team's only double-digit scorer — while Marko Guduric has nine. 

11:14 p.m. — Back to the fastbreak for Australia. Exum takes it coast-to-coast for the timely bucket and the foul. A much-needed break for the Boomers as they get the lead back out to 17 points. 

11:10 p.m. — Serbia's defense is continuing to bother Australia late in the second quarter as it disrupts the passing lanes and forces turnovers. Australia lead 48-37.

11:07 p.m. — Serbia has done a good job getting Australia out of rhythm, forcing some tough shots. The lead is down to 16 points. Boomers lead 46-30.

11:05 p.m. — Some gamesmanship from Jokic with the classic "I'm shooting it from halfcourt" as he gets fouled by Landale. The officials aren't buying it, though.

11:00 p.m. — Exum gets tangled up with Avramovic and after review, the officials have upgraded it to an unsportsmanlike foul.

10:58 p.m. — Australia is on an absolute heater to start the quarterfinal. Midway through the second quarter, the Boomers have connected on 19-of-24 from the field (79.2 percent) and 4-of-6 from three. 

10:56 p.m. — It's the Patty Mills show! He's tied with the entire Serbia team with 18 points.

10:54 p.m. — The Boomers are running riot in Paris. They start the quarter on a 6-0 run to make it a 20-point lead. 

End of first quarter: Australia 31, Serbia 17

It's the Boomers backcourt leading the way early with Patty Mills dropping a game-high 12 points on 2-of-3 from deep, while Josh Giddeyhas eight.

10:47 p.m. — Australia's transition offense is its best option early in the quarterfinal. Another fastbreak, this time kicked off by Exum leads to a Mills corner triple. Australia lead 26-17.

10:44 p.m. — Nikola Jokic gets on the scoreboard with two quick buckets late in the quarter. Australia lead 19-17.

10:42 p.m. — Giddey looking like a seasoned veteran in the biggest game of his Boomers career, with eight of the Aussies' 16 points on 4-5 shooting. 

10:41 p.m. — ​​​Giddey finds Exum on the baseline cut for the easy reverse layup. Australia lead 12-8. Timeout Serbia. 

10:40 p.m. — Serbia is getting after it early defensively with the full-court press, forcing the Boomers to speed up, but Giddey is doing a good job getting out of trouble. 

10:37 p.m. —Josh Giddey is off to a fast start for the Aussies, with back-to-back buckets to give the Boomers their first lead of the night, 6-4.

10:34 p.m. — It has been a scrappy start for the Aussies, who have already picked up three team fouls within the first two minutes of the game.

10:30 p.m. — We're underway at Bercy Arena as Dobric gets the left-handed runner to go to open the scoring.
