Former NBA player Austin Rivers asked a question on X to NBA fans concerning Lakers players LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Rivers was watching Team USA friendly games and saw that LeBron and Davis were key players to their success. It got him wondering why the Lakers have not surrounded them with pieces to win.

The last four years for the Lakers have been heartbreaking. After winning the NBA Finals in 2020, the Lakers slowly lost what made them a powerhouse. The only remaining players from that team are LeBron and Davis. The current roster is a far cry from the 2020 supporting cast that the Lakers had back then, and the front office has made no waves in trying to get more talent. It seems they are content with making the playoffs.

While LeBron is pushing 40 years old, he is still proving on Team USA that he has the skills to lead a team. Davis is proving to be an anchor on defense for Team USA to center around as well. If the Lakers actually figure out the direction to take to win, they may have one more shot before LeBron hangs it up.
