Anthony Edwards' emergence as one of the faces of the NBA has received widespread acclaim. That doesn't mean its been completely welcomed, however.
Edwards, the Timberwolves mercurial talent, suffered defeat at the hands of Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the rest of the menacing Mavericks in May, falling 4-1 in the Western Conference Finals. Shortly after Minnesota's defeat, Edwards' most prominent sponsor, Adidas, released an ad campaign praising Edwards for his accomplishments and vowing more were on the way.
Beneath the pastel-orange scenery and constant sounds of Edwards' jumper finding its target lied the makings of a feud. Edwards appeared to throw shots at famed rapper and podcast host Cam'ron, as well as former All-Star Carmelo Anthony, after the pair expressed doubts about Edwards' future as a bonafide supernova.
Suffice to say, Cam'ron didn't take too kindly to the callout. Now, he's firing back, igniting a rather unexpected feud in the process.

Here's what you need to know about Edwards and Killa Cam's back-and-forth with one another.
Anthony Edwards-Cam'ron beef explained
The origins of this clash seem to have taken shape months ago, when Cam'ron — ever the orator — questioned whether Edwards has the chops to carry the league on his back.
All told, that represents a fairly benign take for Dipset's finest. Nevertheless, Edwards — and perhaps, more tellingly, Adidas executives — took offense to Cam'ron's "diss." In Edwards' most recent Adidas ad, Edwards is heard saying "f—, buddy" towards Cam.

Cam'ron wasn't too pleased. In fact, he dropped a profanity-laced freestyle that featured barbs towards the Minnesota standout, all while sporting the colors of ... Doncic, the man who orchestrated Minnesota's exit from the postseason.

“Kyrie Irving with his sh—, don’t get crossed up. Shooters, pardon that’s just my own thoughts. Luka, ‘I send you home on your home-court, get on my Uber, I don’t know what y’all thought’..”
Cam mostly hit a tone of bemusement at Edwards' indiscretion. He offered far more scathing critiques to those who bankrolled the Edwards' shoot, Adidas. In fact, Cam'ron implied that Adidas makes faulty footwear, citing a long line of Adidas athletes who suffered catastrophic injuries while wearing their kicks, from Tracy McGrady, John Wall and Robert Griffin III to Kevin Ware.

So, how will Edwards respond? It remains to be seen. However, it might be wise to let this one simmer in the coming few days. Cam'ron surely has a treasure trove of bars he can aim at Edwards and any other naysayer foolish enough to denigrate him. And if Kendrick Lamar and Drake's recent verbal joust proved anything, it's that once that can of worms is opened, it's hard to reel it back in place.
