Anthony Davis was the biggest loser Wednesday night.
The Pelicans star began his 2016-17 campaign with a 50-point performance in a 107-102 defeat at home against Denver.
His scoring output was a team record for a season debut. He also added a game-high 16 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and four blocks to become the first player in league history to record at least 45 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and five steals since steals first began being recorded as an official stat 43 years ago.
Only four players, an elite group that also consists of Michael Jordan, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain, have ever scored 50 points in a season opener.
