Andre Iguodala has been sarcastic for most of his NBA career. Give him the hubris of a 22-0 defending championship team, and the Warriors sixth man unsurprisingly took things to another level.

How can an opponent end the Warriors' streak? "Going to the gun range and learning how to shoot. Kill us all," Iguodala deadpanned Sunday, after a victory against the Nets, according to ESPN.

Of course it was a joke. Iguodala is an intelligent player and person who enjoys toeing the line. But this may not be the best timing for gun jokes, particularly after 14 people were killed in a shooting in San Bernardino, Calif. (San Bernardino is about six hours south of Oakland, the Warriors' home.)

We are in an era of heightened consciousness toward political correctness. The NBA has fined players for making gun gestures during games — most recently Gerald Green of the Heat — though this comment could not be interpreted as directed at fans or opposing players in the same way those gestures could.

The Warriors are no strangers to bold comments, as Draymond Green, Andrew Bogut and even Stephen Curry have made waves in recent weeks with comments. But this is a step beyond accusations of cockiness, especially in light of recent events.
