More than a week after Celtics forward Al Horford took a blow to the head in practice, the big man who signed a $113 million contract this offseason remains in the NBA's concussion protocol.

Worse, coach Brad Stevens, whose team has gone 1-2 in Horford's absence, isn't sure when he'll return to basketball activities.

"He has not advanced in the protocol, based on what I've been told," Stevens said after Monday's practice (via ESPN). "I have not gotten anything deeper than that, but he did not do anything with our team today."

The Celtics play Wednesday in Washington, and thus far Horford has been seen doing only light on-court work and running on a treadmill.

The Celtics (3-3) have started Tyler Zeller in Horford's place the past three games, but Stevens said he'll ponder tweaking his lineup for the Wizards game, depending on who is available. Another starter, Jae Crowder, is sidelined with an ankle injury, and backup big man Kelly Olynyk (shoulder surgery in May) has yet to play.

"I don't know what we're going to do Wednesday," Stevens said. "We've got a couple of days now to think about that."
