Jalen Brunson knows when his "Nova Knicks" friends are being genuine and when they're not.
On Monday night, after scoring 43 points to help the New York Knicks escape with a 121-117 Game 1 win over the Indiana Pacers, Brunson was asked about the elite statistical company he's joined during these playoffs. Brunson is the first player since Michael Jordan to score 40-plus points in four straight playoff games.
As Brunson listened to the question, his teammate Donte DiVincenzo exclaimed, "Michael Jordan?!" Brunson curtly said, "Stop," to DiVincenzo, drawing laughs from everyone in the room.

On Tuesday, Brunson was asked about his reaction and had a hilarious response.
"If you know my friends, you know that they're all a--holes," Brunson said (via Fred Katz of The Athletic).

"If you know my friends, you know that they're all assholes."
DiVincenzo was asked about the interaction and said that he loves celebrating Brunson's achievements, even if Brunson doesn't.
"[Brunson] knows what he's doing, but he doesn't address it, he's just trying to get better every single day," DiVincenzo told reporters, adding: "I love it. I sure as hell love it. I'll celebrate it any day of the week."
However, DiVincenzo said he and Hart will continue teasing their longtime friend.
"Me and Josh give him s--- all the time," DiVincenzo said. "But after the season, you know it's going to come, for sure."

The 'Nova Knicks are guiding New York in the playoffs
Brunson, DiVincenzo, and Hart have created an undeniable camaraderie on these Knicks, one that's hard not to root for.
However, beyond their friendship and spirit, they have been irreplaceable for the Knicks this postseason.
Brunson is leading the NBA in points this postseason. Hart is leading the NBA in minutes. Though DiVincenzo has had an up-and-down playoffs, his shooting and defense has still been crucial for the Knicks. He hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 40 seconds to play in Game 1, then drew an offensive foul fighting over a screen on the next possession.
According to Knicks reporter Tommy Beer, over the Knicks' last two games, the trio has scored or assisted on 219 of the Knicks' 239 points.
Tonight, the Nova Knicks (Brunson, Hart, DiVincenzo) combined for:

92 Points
22 Rebounds
15 Assists
Insanely/incredibly, over NY’s past two games (Game 6 vs Philly and Game 1 vs. Indy), this trio has scored or assisted on 219 of the Knicks 239 points.
219 of 239.
The Nova Knicks are carrying the team through the playoffs, and they're having fun doing it.
