Jeff Teague on disappointing 2021 NBA championship party: “I was on 2K” image

The Milwaukee Bucks’ second NBA championship in franchise history did not come with the proper celebration, according to guard Jeff Teague.

The Bucks defeated Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 NBA Finals in six games, largely due to a historic series from superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Although Teague played a minimal role in the title, his memory of the afterparty is one to remember.

"We won a chip, I ain't care, bro. Our afterparty was trash, bro," Teague said on an episode of the Club 520 Podcast. "I had better times in Lou-will-ville. You know me, P.J. Tucker, Bobby Portis, we like 'Let's go to Vegas, y'all, it ain't no party in Milwaukee.' It's probably like 20 people in the little venue we was at."

Milwaukee is not considered a major market. The Bucks grew their roster organically, selecting Antetokounmpo with the No. 15 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. The homegrown Greek superstar was not interested in a major party, as Teague noted: “It wasn't nothing going on, so we asked Giannis, 'You want to go to Vegas?’ He said, 'Nah, I’m going to celebrate with my family.' Once Giannis says it's over, it's over.”

The one-time All-Star began breaking out in laughter, saying, “I got in my truck and I drove back home to Indianapolis so I can hang out with my friends... I was on 2K.”

The hilarious story caught the attention of Tucker, who commented, “Funniest teammate of all time." Meanwhile, retired champion Richard Jefferson replied to the video, joking, “They not like us @cavs.”
