The Milwaukee Bucks have struggled to perform in the NBA playoffs since winning the Finals in 2021, largely due to a plethora of injuries.
Despite this, Milwaukee's front office is not opposed to shaking up the roster around star tandem Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Big man Brook Lopez played a crucial role in their title, but according to Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, could find himself with another team next season.
"There appears to be a wide range of starting-caliber big men available for trade. League personnel told Yahoo Sports the Bucks are open to reshaping their roster, and they are gauging the trade value for Brook Lopez," Fischer wrote. "Houston, sources said, cautioned Lopez that re-signing with Milwaukee could very well lead to him eventually being traded when the Rockets pursued Lopez in free agency a year ago."
Lopez averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks on 48.5% shooting from the field and 36.6% from 3-point range last season. Milwaukee would take a substantial short-term hit on the defensive end, but at age 36, Lopez will only regress. Not to mention, he is under contract next year but could then walk for nothing in free agency.
