Tensions could flare in the Los Angeles Lakers' locker room because of the recent hiring of retired sharpshooter and analyst JJ Redick.
The Lakers agreed to terms with Redick on a four-year deal to become their next head coach, but it could come at the expense of the happiness of superstar Anthony Davis. LeBron James and Redick are tight-knit, starting a podcast together in March, where the two discuss X's and O's for hours on end. If Redick leans on James more than others in intense circumstances, Davis and others could become increasingly frustrated.
However, it shouldn't become much of a problem as James' former teammate and Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem was vocal that he "loves being coached." While the 20-time All-Star undoubtedly hopes to have a say in certain areas, allowing Redick control in practices, workouts, and the locker room is key.
Davis is one of the top defenders in the NBA, meaning his worth should not be taken for granted, as almost every championship contender would pick up the phone in an instant if trade rumors picked up steam. Now that their coaching void is filled, the Lakers must focus on building out a surrounding staff along with acquiring glue guys to support James and Davis.
