In the NBA, emotions rise and at times some heated altercations are exchanged on the court. Other times, words said off the court spark different heated exchanges.
Shaquille O’Neal has become quite the media personality since his basketball career came to an end. The four-time champion has the confidence to say what’s on his mind and the accolades to back his talk up. In a recent interview with Udanis Haslem and Mike Miller, the Los Angeles Lakers former big man aired out his issues with a current NBA player.
“A lot of these big men fail when I put out these challenges. All the stuff I'm saying about Rudy (Gobert), you're right. You don't think I'm right? Look at this play right here. Why would somebody push you down, and you fall and grab their knees and put your head between their legs?” O'Neal questioned on an episode of “The OGs.”
"You're the Defensive Player of the Year, but every scouting report I'm looking at, they're targeting you."
The beef started after the legend referred to Gobert as the “WOAT” or “Worst of All Time” in an interview on Complex earlier this month. To which Gobert shared his thoughts on social media.
“It is sad to see someone that has accomplished as much as you (O’Neal) did both in sport and business still be triggered by another man’s finances and accomplishments. I get the entertainment part but unlike other folks, you don’t need that stuff to stay relevant,” Gobert responded.
The Minnesota Timberwolves center will have the chance to silence his critics once again this season as his squad hopes to make it one step closer to competing for an NBA Championship.
