The Phoenix Suns have reportedly made clear their desire to run it back next season with their Big Three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal.
This is not scaring away the Houston Rockets, who are looking to thrust their roster into championship contention in the immediate future, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
“As intrigued as the Rockets have been about Durant, they're determined to use the Suns picks to be aggressive on deals elsewhere now, sources tell ESPN,” Wojnarowski wrote. “Phoenix has made it clear that they want to run it back with this group, and Houston is seeking a major upgrade now.“
Paul George (Los Angeles Clippers) and Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat) are two of the most plausible options if Durant is off the table. While none boost the Rockets’ young core among championship contenders, any of the star forwards could make them competitive.
