It’s win-now mode for the Houston Rockets, as they’re reportedly going all in for Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news late Tuesday night, writing, “The implications of the Rockets landing the Suns' picks? Houston wants to trade for Kevin Durant and that becomes far easier if they can return the Suns' picks that they gave up in the Durant deal to the Nets. Suns have said they're keeping Durant for now, but that could change next season. But now, Houston has the picks to make the Suns whole again.”
Durant is one of the most desirable superstars in the league, with a perfect blend of scoring and other offensive attributes. While the Rockets’ lineup is built primarily on young unpolished talent, adding the Suns forward could vault them into a solid contender. It would likely take a few more seasons before Houston becomes a true championship contender in the loaded Western Conference.
In a later report, Wojnarowski shared the Rockets will look elsewhere for superstar talent in the immediate future.
