The Denver Nuggets have re-signed their star point guard Jamal Murray to a four-year, $208 million dollar extension, per Adrian Wojanrowski. This guarantees Murray $244 million over the next five years.

This past season, Murray averaged 21 points, four rebounds, and six and a half assists per game. He also shot over 40% from deep, and averaged a steal a game.

Murray has been a cornerstone of the Nuggets, with him, Nikola Jokic, and Michael Porter Jr. being the championship core. He and Porter Jr. are great support players for Jokic, who is arguably the best player in the NBA, and one of the best playmakers. Murray’s iso game and shooting makes it very easy to pull defenders for Jokic to make a play, and vice versa.

Murray, now being the most recently locked down player, along with Jokic and Porter Jr., gives Denver’s front office a plan to work with. Now that they know their three main stars aren’t going anywhere, they can look for role players to support them. This definitely puts the Nuggets as one of the top three teams in the West for years to come.
