The Dallas Mavericks are fresh off an NBA Finals appearance. Despite the loss, many players got their first taste of Finals action, including one player with a twin brother in the league.
Some NBA players never get the chance to compete for a championship in their careers, while others retire with enough rings to fill fingers on both hands. That said, winning a championship becomes one of the most important goals for players on the backside of their career.
Now, the twin brother of Mavericks' forward Markieff Morris has signed a deal with another championship contender hoping to have a chance to win a ring.
“Free agent forward Marcus Morris has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, agent Yony Noy of LAA Partners tells The Athletic,” Shams Charania reported on Sunday. Morris will have a chance to enter his 14th NBA season with the Eastern Conference contender.”
Morris is signing an Exhibit-9 contract that will allow him to compete for the final roster spot the Knicks have to offer. The forward finished last season averaging 6.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 49 games.
At 34, the Kansas alum isn’t the player he used to be, but he proved in a 25-point outing in the playoffs against the Boston Celtics that he can still contribute.
The deal is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Knicks who enter this season as one of the top title favorites in the East.
