The Dallas Mavericks are dealing with depth issues, as players like Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford are out with injuries. Davis is dealing with a left adductor strain, and while the team said he is making progress, he is out for at least two more weeks. Gafford is out with a knee strain, and like Davis, he will be re-evaluated in a few weeks.
With so many injuries, especially when it comes to their bigs, the Mavericks needed to fill that void. They brought in a former Maverick in Moses Brown, who recently signed a 10-day contract with them.
Brown could stay with the Mavericks if they choose to give him another 10-day contract. Or, this move could be temporary and Dallas could go in a different direction. There are a number of centers out there the Mavs can go after that could be low risk signings that pay off. FanSided created a list of bigs that are available with some being recently waived after trades. One player mentioned, and the big man they ranked No. 1 on the list is Mo Bamba.
Bamba is a free agent who last played for the Los Angeles Clippers. He signed a one-year deal with them during the offseason. The Clippers traded him to the Utah Jazz before the trade deadline, and waived him after that.
The 26-year-old center can block shots and while his offensive game has not developed, he can knock down shots when needed. He can come in, provide solid minutes and when the Mavericks start getting players back, they can keep him on the bench if depth becomes an issue later on.
Dallas could decide to stick with Brown, and there is nothing wrong with that. But if they decide to go in a different direction, Bamba could be one of the first names they consider.
