The Brooklyn Nets continue to alter their roster ahead of a season that could completely dictate the future direction of the franchise.
Brooklyn pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal this offseason that shipped star player Mikal Bridges to an in-state rival. Now, general manager Sean Marks has a lot of decisions to make as the team heads into the season in an interesting spot.
With not many proven young players on the roster and plenty of veterans, the Nets could be moving towards a fire sale as the trade deadline approaches.
Nonetheless, the Nets continue to make moves with yet another developmental project.
“The Brooklyn Nets are signing Yongxi "Jacky" Cui – an undrafted forward out of China – to a two-way NBA contract,” Shams Charania of the Athletic reported on Friday.
Cui went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft but he got the chance to compete on the Portland Trail Blazers Summer League roster. There, the Chinese product turned heads and earned himself a two-way contract with the Nets.
Before entering the draft, The 6-foot-6 forward spent time in the Chinese Basketball Association playing for the Guangzhou Loong Lions. In 99 games with the team, Cui averaged 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals while shooting 45.3% from the field and 36.2% from three.
