Ben Simmons is one of the most controversial players in the NBA, appearing in less than 50 games in three consecutive seasons for a variety of reasons.

However, it hasn't halted all interest in the Brooklyn Nets guard's potential, as the Charlotte Hornets reportedly discussed a swap for Miles Bridges at the trade deadline.

“Charlotte, sources said, held conversations with Brooklyn about swapping Bridges in a package that would have brought Ben Simmons to the Hornets in February," Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer wrote. "Sacramento was another team that inquired about Bridges at the deadline, sources said.”

While no recent reports have surfaced regarding a Simmons deal, this proves the 27-year-old still holds a decent market. This should come as a bit of a shock when considering his statistical falloff since joining the Nets, averaging 6.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6 assists on 57% shooting in 57 games.

The Kings and Hornets are in different positions regarding their competitiveness, but it's understandable why Simmons could be a desirable acquisition for either at a cheap enough price.
