The Boston Celtics week of victory is over, as their championship parade came on Friday, but former NBA guard Nick Young isn't done celebrating.
Young, who played his last season with the Denver Nuggets in 2019, made a controversial claim about the Celtics' title. He appeared on retired All-Star Gilbert Arenas' podcast, where he dubbed the NBA "America's League," amongst other claims.
"Let's give it up for America. America won, baby. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown did it for America," Young said. "They put Luka's ass out. I got so tired of everybody talking about these foreigners, and [expletive] America is here, baby. It's America's league. I hope y'all see it."

What Young failed to realize in his remarks is Boston's No. 3 option, Kristaps Porzingis, is Latvian. Not to mention, big men Al Horford and Oshae Brissett were born in the Dominican Republic and Canada, respectively.
Regardless of whether Young was joking or pushing an insensitive agenda, fans remained upset by the statement, grilling him in the comments across social media.
