Alex Bowman suffered a setback at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in qualifying Friday.
The 26-year-old driver was on his run when his car blew smoke and forced him to pull to the apron and stop.
Bowman was heard on the radio saying his drive shaft blew up and it could clearly be seen bouncing along the track moments after smoke came out of his car.

This isn't the first incident Bowman has had in New Hampshire.
In 2015, his tire caught fire at Loudon during the race.
Both of these moments are a bit scary and dangerous, but he came away unscathed in both instances.
Bowman has had a good season as he earned his first career win at Chicago a few weeks ago, but he will have to battle back from behind in a backup car this weekend.
The Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday and can be seen on NBCSN.
