Sprint Cup driver Travis Kvapil has been arrested and charged with assault after a dispute with his wife, according to the Mooresville (N.C.) Police Department.
Charlotte's WBTV and WCNC first reported Kvapil's arrest.
According to the Mooresville Police Department, officers were called to Kvapil's home Tuesday night after getting a 911 call. Kvapil and his wife had been involved in a domestic dispute, according to the MPD news release.
Kvapil, who drives the No. 93 car for BK Racing, was arrested and charged with assault on a female and false imprisonment. He was taken to the Iredell County Jail and held until his court appearance.

Kvapil and his wife, Jennifer, have three children -- Kelsey, Carson and Caden
BK Racing posted photos Wednesday of Kvapil's car with ribbons supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness. The photos were taken down after news of Kvapil's arrest.
The team told Sporting News it had no comment yet on the incident.
Kvapil has been released from custody, according to a state offender database.
NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said the sanctioning body has no comment at this time with the matter in the hands of legal authorities.
