There were two themes drivers discussed during the coverage of the rain delay at Pocono Raceway on Sunday: kids and how rain can hamper the racing at the track.

Located in the Pocono mountains, the track can see a wide variety of weather in a day.

This weekend, rain seems to have been a near-constant threat to activities, though only Camping World Truck Series qualifying had been canceled prior to Sunday's Cup race being postponed to Monday.

Pocono became the first track to have both of its races postponed to Monday in one season, according to multiple reports.

Pocono’s track staff took to social media to keep fans up-to-date on developments throughout Sunday morning and early afternoon.

Tracks also regularly offer safety warnings to fans when rain showers become weather that is more threatening. Pocono has dealt with weather-related tragedy in the past.

In 2012, fans were injured by a lightning strike at the track, one fatally. The track set up a memorial fund for the victim.

The June race at the track was postponed until Monday because of rain at the track. According to multiple reports on Sunday morning, no track has ever had both of its races in a second postponed by rain.

Prior to the June delay, the Pocono race had most recently been delayed to a Monday on Aug. 3, 2009. The Pocono race also ran on Monday on June 19, 2000 and July 30, 1979.
