NASCAR at Texas: Race results, highlights from Kevin Harvick's overtime win image

Kevin Harvick secured his spot in the Championship 4 with an overtime victory at the AAA Texas 500 in Fort Worth.

Non-playoff driver Ryan Blaney finished in second place, while Joey Logano finished third. Logano secured his spot in the Championship 4 with his win at Martinsville Speedway last week.

Joey Gase spun with three laps to go, causing this race to go to overtime.

Kevin Harvick took the lead early and didn't look back. He led for 177 of 337 laps and finished both stages in first place. This is his eighth win of the season. 

Harvick now has the opportunity to race for the NASCAR Cup Series championship, which he has won once in his career. 

Clint Bowyer finished the lowest of all the playoff drivers for the second consecutive race — he finished in 26th place. 

The Round of 8 concludes next Sunday at ISM Raceway, where the two remaining Championship 4 spots will be decided.

6:45 p.m.: After three overtime laps, Kevin Harvick is your AAA Texas 500 champion! Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano were next to cross the finish line. 

6:37 p.m.: Joey Gase crashes with three laps to go. There will be overtime in Texas. 

6:32 p.m.: Only 14 laps left. Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson make up the top three. 

6:22 p.m.: Pretty significant damage done to Matt DiBenedetto's car. There is a caution. The drivers will restart. 

6:18 p.m.: Only 32 laps left in this race. Who will be the winner?!

6:12 p.m.: David Starr spins. There are 37 laps to go. 

6:06 p.m.: Denny Hamlin is being penalized for a tire violation. 

6:05 p.m.: 50 laps to go! Jimmie Johnson has taken the lead.

6:01 p.m.: Clint Bowyer is reportedly having some issues with his car. 

5:58 p.m.: There was a penalty called on Martin Truex Jr. 

5:54 p.m.: Less than 100 laps to go and Kevin Harvick has regained the lead. He is followed by Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano. 

5:53 p.m.: It's been a rough day for drivers and their crew members. 

5:42 p.m.: Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. are reporting tire issues. 

5:40 p.m.: A little over 100 laps to go. 

5:36 p.m.: This is the second time today a driver had been penalized for having a crew member over the wall too soon, this time it is Jimmie Johnson. 

5:32 p.m.: There is a caution on Lap 225. There appears to be debris on the track. Daniel Suarez hit the wall. 

5:21 p.m.: Two non-playoff drivers, Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski, sit in the top three with Joey Logano, who has already secured his spot in the Championship 4 after 200 laps. 

5:16 p.m.: Team Penske drivers are in the one, two, and three spot during the final stage. 

5:08 p.m.: 158 laps left. Let's do this. 

5:06 p.m.: Here are the top 10 drivers at the end of Stage 2. 

5:01 p.m.: Kevin Harvick wins Stage 2, his second of the day. Ryan Blaney finishes second and Martin Truex Jr. finds himself in third place, rounding out the top three. 

5 p.m.: There is a penatly on Clint Bowyer. One of his pit members came over the wall too soon.

4:51 p.m.: Not cool, NASCAR. Jimmie Johnson was mistakenly sent to the rear prior to today's race. 

4:50 p.m.: After 150 laps, Joey Logano has taken the lead with Kurt Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. behind him. 

4:30 p.m.: Through 110 laps, Joey Logano has entered the top three. Kevin Harvick is in the lead with Logano and Kurt Busch in second and third place. 

4:23 p.m.: The yellow flag is out on lap 97. William Byron was involved in a crash. Jimmie Johnson was involved, as well. 

4:16 p.m.: Restart follows a caution at the end of Stage 1. 

4:09 p.m.: Kevin Harvick wins Stage 1. Kurt Busch and Erik Jones round out the top three. 

3:50 p.m.: We are through 45 laps in Stage 1. Kevin Harvick has jumped into the number one spot, with Kurt Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. right behind him. 

3:45 p.m.: RESTART. Here is the new order:

3:40 p.m.: Numerous drivers have been hit with a penalty. 

3:38 p.m.: After 30 laps, there is a competition caution. The top three is unchanged. Chase Elliot has entered the Top 10.

3:30 p.m.: Ryan Blaney, Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski round out the top three after 15 laps. 

3:27 p.m.: Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin colide early. Bower is leaving the track for a flat. Denny Hamlin is also pitting for issues.
