Short and sweet...
NASCAR returned to the short track on Sunday, with racers descending on Martinsville Speedway — affably known as the "Half Mile of Mayhem" — for the Cook Out 400.
It was more spectacle than race, bursting with passes, hard racing and vigor. In the end, though, a familiar face returned to victory lane, further cementing his status as one of the sport's greatest young stars in the process.
Here's what you need to know about Sunday's Cup Series race at Martinsville, the Cook Out 400.

Who won the NASCAR race today?
William Byron captured the checkered flag at the Cook Out 400, outpacing Hendrick Motorsports counterparts Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.
It was Byron's third win of the season and the 13th of his career. Byron has shined in the No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports in recent seasons, even earning a Championship 4 appearance in 2023. At this rate, he looks well on his way to another.
