NASCAR at Dover live race updates: DuraMAX Drydene 400 postponed to Monday due to rain image

Monday will feature NASCAR's conclusion to the race at Dover, as the DuraMAX Drydene 400 resumes at noon. Reigning champion Alex Bowman, who started from the sixth position Sunday, is looking to defend his title. Hendrick Motorsports has dominated the Drydene 400, and it comprised four of the top seven spots this year.

Chevy driver Chase Elliott sits atop the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 2,017 points, with Ryan Blaney right behind him at 2,013 points. Elliott's No. 9 car started from the fourth position, whereas Blaney was right behind him at No. 5.

Ross Chastain is another driver to watch, as he tries to shake off his struggles at Dover and win his third race of the season. After wins at the Circuit of the Americas and Talladega, this feels like the year he could make a big move in the No. 1 car.

The race was postponed due to inclement weather Sunday, with Kyle Larson, Elliott, Blaney, Martin Truex Jr., and William Byron comprising the top five.

The Sporting News tracked live updates and lap-by-lap highlights for NASCAR's race at Dover on Sunday and will continue to do so Monday. Follow for complete results from the DuraMAX Drydene 400.

NASCAR at Dover live updates, highlights from DuraMAX Drydene 400

5:34 p.m. --- The race has been officially postponed to Monday at noon after 78 laps.

5:23 p.m. --- While the worst of the weather appears to be nearly through, NASCAR seems to be waiting to see if the storm breaks before continuing.

4:15 p.m. --- The delay is still ongoing, and daylight is going to be an issue. With no lights at Dover and 122 more laps needed for this race to be official, the jet driers are still attempting to dry the course.

4 p.m. --- Weather remains an issue in this early stage, and we're going to get a red flag as NASCAR attempts to dry the track.

3:57 p.m. --- Stage 1 continues to wind down under caution, and we're now on the 78th lap. Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Ryan Blaney comprise the top three after staying out of the pit when Hamlin entered. Hamlin now sits in eighth.

3:51 p.m. --- As rain continues to loom, NASCAR is going to try to continue and jet dry the track for a lap. On lap 75, 29th-place Michael McDowell is a free pass as the pits open.

3:44 p.m. --- We've entered another caution on the 69th lap. Denny Hamlin continues to lead, while Kyle Larson is still going head to head for the top spot. Chase Elliott is in fifth place.

3:35 p.m. --- A.J. Allmendinger will be in the back of the pack as we go green again. Denny Hamlin is still in the lead.

3:29 p.m. --- After 40 laps we've hit our first competition caution with Hamlin still leading. Kyle Larson, Chris Buescher, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney round out the top five.

3:23 p.m. --- Denny Hamlin has taken over the lead from Chris Buescher 24 laps in.

3:17 pm. --- As explained on the broadcast, Kurt Busch is starting from the back of the pack after an unapproved adjustment to his steering. He's already up seven spots from his starting point after a strong start.

3:14 p.m. --- We are underway at Dover! Welcome to the DuraMAX Drydene 400 folks.

3:06 p.m. --- 200 laps will be the goal as inclement weather continues to loom.

3:03 p.m. --- Larry Stoddard is the Grand Marshal of the race, and he gives the drivers the call to start their engines. We're moments away from the Drydene 400.

2:50 p.m. --- Weather looks like it will be a factor at Dover on Sunday, as pockets of rain continue to hover.
