Matt Tifft is returning to racing this weekend at Chicago. Tifft, 20, underwent surgery for the removal of a brain tumor in July

Tifft, who had what is known as a low-grade glioma, will drive the Red Horse Racing No. 11 in the Camping World Truck Series this weekend, according to a team release.

"I'm excited to get back behind the wheel," Tifft said. "I've really missed being at the track, so I'm very happy to be back and able to race the No. 11 Tundra.”

Tifft has three starts with the team this season. He earned a best finish of fifth at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May and has finished no worse than 14th in the three races.

At Bristol in August, Tifft offered an update in a news conference and said he was planning to test at Hickory in a Late Model as a step in his recovery.

He’s offered updates to fans via social media throughout his recovery and confirmed his return there as well.

Tifft has one career start at Chicagoland Speedway, finishing ninth in the 2015 Truck race at the track.

"We're really glad to have Matt back in the No. 11, but more importantly we're glad that he's healthy," team owner Tom DeLoach said. "We're looking forward to finishing out the season strong with him back in action."

He has six starts in the Xfinity Series with Joe Gibbs Racing this season with a pair of eighth-place finishes in his two most recent races.
