After an All-Star Race weekend hampered by rain, the forecast for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 looked much more promising.

Now, though, the potential for rain is creeping onto the scene once more. Don't get overly concerned yet, though, race fans. Anything can change between now and Sunday night — and NASCAR already showed how a few showers, or more, can be overcome quickly.

While the forecasts vary at this point, both Weather.com and Accuweather have a chance of thunderstorms in Concord, N.C., the suburban area where Charlotte Motor Speedway is located.

According to Weather.com, there is an 80 percent chance of rain on Sunday with a 60 percent of scattered thunderstorms throughout in the evening. The Coca-Cola 600 is scheduled to start about 6 p.m. ET (Fox).

Accuweather gives a 47 percent chance of rain at 6 p.m., with percentages in the 40s and 50s throughout the next few hours.

Fans should take heart. There was much debate last Saturday over whether the race would be able to run after a downpour hit the track and washed out the 7:10 p.m. qualifying session. Shortly after the scheduled start, though, NASCAR drivers were on the track and ran the full All-Star Race.

Fans can certainly hope for that type of outcome once more.
