Norway's Anders Fannemel went 251.5 meters on Sunday as the ski jumping world record was broken for the second time in as many days, but it was not good enough to win& the FIS World Cup.
That's nearly the length of three football fields — 274 yards.
Just 24 hours after Slovenia's Peter Prevc became the first man to jump 250 meters, Fannemel eclipsed that in competition at Vikersund, Norway.
However, his second jump was 202 meter, as he had to settle for second place behind German Severin Freund overall.
Freund was more consistent, going 237.5 meters and 245 meters to win the competition. Johann Andre Forfang was third.
Freund's victory means he is now third in the overall World Cup standings, 103 points behind leader Prevc, who finished 16th after his record-breaking flight.
