Roger Federer insists he has the hunger and desire to win more grand slam titles despite losing the Wimbledon final to Novak Djokovic for the second consecutive year.

Federer was hoping for a record eighth Wimbledon title.

Meeting media members after the match, Federer paid tribute to Djokovic, now a three-time champion. He also insisted he is looking forward to challenging at more grand slams. His next opportunity comes next month at the U.S. Open.

"I'm still motivated and hungry to keep playing, a match like this helps," Federer said during the on-court presentation.

"Novak played not only great today but for the two weeks, the whole year, the whole of last year, the years before that. He deserved it. Well done, Novak."

Still, he lamented another missed opportunity.

"I had my chances in first set being a break up," Federer said. "The second set I got lucky to win that and in the third I had chances.

"That's how it goes — he was tougher on the big points, he was rock solid, he played great. I didn't play so bad myself. That's how it goes."
