U.S. Olympic rowers will debut a new training suit designed to protect them from potential water pollution at the Rio Olympics, the Associated Press reports.
In testing conducted by the AP last year, the lagoon where the rowing and canoeing events are to be held was heavily contaminated.

The new seamless, one-piece suit will include a microbial finish, according to the report, as well as water-repellant features. It will reportedly be unveiled on Monday. The company also makes the team’s official competition uniform, but the Boathouse Sports CEO John Strotbeck said that the team may prefer to use the new suits for racing as well. The current racing suits do not have the anti-bacterial features.
U.S. Rowing did not respond to calls and emails from the AP concerning the reported new suit.
The Rio Olympics begin on Aug. 5.
