Torrential rain in New York has forced the postponement of Thursday's women's singles semifinals.

The scheduled night matches pairing Serena Williams against Roberta Vinci and Simona Halep against Flavia Pennetta will instead be played Friday morning, the USTA announced.

The women's matches will begin at 11 a.m. ET, with Halep vs. Pennetta on first — a reversal of the original Thursday night order.

The men's singles semifinals pushed back from a 3 p.m. start to "not before" 5 p.m. Novak Djokovic will face Marin Cilic and Roger Federer meets countryman Stan Wawrinka in those matches.

For the women, the move eliminates a rest day between the semifinals and the final, which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
