It's Day 3 of the Open, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

Raonic, seeded 10th, is expected on court about 1 p.m. ET to face Spain's Fernando Verdasco.

Bouchard, who is trying to make amends for a season's struggles, is No. 25 among women. She follows Raonic on the Grandstand court to face Slovakia's Polona Hercog.

Raonic knocked off American Tim Smyczek 6-4, 7-6 (8), 6-1. Countryman Vasek Pospisil was eliminated in the first round, and Raonic knows he must improve to have a deep round at Flushing Meadows.

"Sometimes I wasn't stepping up and being aggressive enough," he told media members after his match. "Sometimes I was making mental lapses. I think it was that kind of stuff, those situations. I was sort of letting that stuff creep in. I wasn't as sharp as I wanted to be."
