A crash inside the final kilometer denied general classification leader Tony Martin a second stage win at this year's Tour de France as Zdenek Stybar crossed the line first.
Martin (Etixx-Quick Step) looked well set to continue his impressive Tour in style after the breakaway trio of Perrig Quemeneur (Europcar), Kenneth Vanbilsen (Cofidis) and Daniel Teklehaimanot (MTN-Qhubeka) eventually fell by the wayside.

However, Martin was at the center of a crash 800 meters from the line and needed to be escorted away after the race as he looked to be holding an injured collarbone.
Teklehaimanot ended the day as King of the Mountains, the man from Eritrea becoming the first from Africa to do so on the Tour.
Quemeneur, Vanbilsen and Teklehaimanot set the pace as leaders early on and the trio enjoyed an 8.55-second advantage when the peloton crossed Picardy to Normandy.
That increased further as André Greipel, whose hold on the green jersey was cut to three points by second-placed Peter Sagan (Tinkoff-Saxo), and his Lotto-Soudal team sought to drive the peloton on.
Martin's early struggles saw him recover from a flat tyre to re-join the pack before Thomas Voeckler (Europcar) made a brief foray to reel in the front three.
He was eventually swallowed back up as the gap decreased going into the final 26 kilometres.
Aided by a strong wind, BMC, Movistar and Tinkoff-Saxo led the chasing pack, while Vanbilsen sought to take on Quemeneur and Teklehaimanot inside the closing kilometres.
Nudging in front, his closest rivals Quemeneur and Teklehaimanot dropped off before the Belgian himself fell back.
However, the crash in the final kilometre saw Martin, Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Nairo Quinatana (Movistar) fall as Stybar was able to veer past and finish.
Martin still enjoys a 12-second advantage in the yellow jersey, although question marks linger over his fitness following Thursday’s crash.
