Mark Cavendish finally won a stage this year. He fought off Peter Sagan, André Griepel and John Degenkolb after struggling to keep up with them in the intermediate sprint earlier in the day.

Stage 8 is a 181.5-kilometer ride in the French province of Brittany from Rennes to Mûr-de-Bretagne. There is an intermediate sprint and climb, and riders will finish with a 2-kilometer category 3 climb.
