Victoria Azarenka rued missed opportunities after her Brisbane International final defeat to Serena Williams on Saturday.
Azarenka, ranked behind only Williams in women's tennis, lost 6-4, 7-5 in the Australian Open tune-up even. She could not match Williams' ruthlessness at crucial moments in the clash.
However, Azarenka was not disheartened by her performance. She continues her preparations ahead of the Australian Open in Melbourne, where she will attempt to win a third consecutive title.
"I think it was a good match — I definitely had some chances in the second set, I created some opportunities," Azarenka said.
"I fell a little short, a few errors here and there, but of course Serena played well and really took her chances and played better than me in the key moments.
"I just think it was a great match overall, a great week in Brisbane, great preparation and a great tournament because we're here to play this tournament, not just thinking about Melbourne.
"So it was good to take positive things from here and work in the week I have before Melbourne and I'm going to work hard.
"I felt that I was playing pretty well but it wasn't enough."
